Best Upcoming Winter Activities Around Lake Norman

The Lake Norman community is vibrant and active all year long, but during the winter when you can’t enjoy the lakefront quite as often, you may find yourself looking for other venues to get out and enjoy the community. In addition to the fitness center and other indoor amenities at Holly Crest Apartments, here are some upcoming events in the area that you may want to add to your calendar!

Catch a performance of Sylvia at the Warehouse Performing Arts Center in Cornelius this winter. The play runs from January 20 through February 4 and features the story of Greg and Kate, a pair of empty nesters who must decide what to do about Sylvia, a lab/poodle mix that fell into their lives. This comedy pits human vs. canine and is quite entertaining.

Revolutionary War Living History Day

Visit the Historic Latta Plantation on February 4 to celebrate history with the Revolutionary War Living History Day. This live reenactment shows how colonial soldiers prepped for battle, including demonstrations of open-hearth cooking, and showcases the weaponry of the era. The plantation will be open for open-house style tours, and all of the farm animals will be on site to welcome guests.

Black History Celebration

Join the Town of Huntersville on February 20 starting at 10 a.m. as they celebrate Black History Month. From 10 until 12 at the Robert B. Blythe Building, a number of performers will celebrate Black History along with African-American culture. The event starts with SHAE Movement African Arts performing live drumming and dancing, and feel free to take part! BJ Caldwell will talk about her book Pottstown and the history of Huntersville. This free community event is available for the entire town.

Tour De Food Davidson Food Tour

Starting at the Brickhouse Tavern, the Tour De Food Davidson Food Tour takes guests through six to seven restaurants throughout Davidson including everything from a simple soda shop experience to upscale dining establishments. This event is held the first and third Saturday of every month, and is a great way to sample the local Lake Norman  dining scene.

Latta Celtic Festival

When the weather starts to warm up a bit in March, head to the Historic Latta Plantation once again for the Latta Celtic Festival. On March 11 and 12 the facility will come alive with all things Celtic. From musical performances to children’s activities and history demonstrations, you will find something for everyone and this lively celebration.

Do you have one of these events on your winter calendar, or do you have another winter activity you wish to share? Let the Holly Crest community know about it in the comments!
